Ecuador Green Coffee: A Buyer's Guide to Sourcing from Origin
Ecuador is one of the world’s most exciting specialty coffee origins — and one of the most rewarding to source from directly. This guide covers everything a buyer needs to know: varieties, processing, logistics, and how to start a relationship with Hacienda La Florida.
Why Source from Ecuador?
Ecuador’s position on the equator, altitudes reaching 2,000+ masl, and soils shaped by the Andes produce coffees with extraordinary aromatic complexity. The country has become a destination for roasters seeking profiles they cannot find elsewhere.
For Ecuador green coffee exporters, traceability and quality control are standard. Hacienda La Florida exemplifies this — offering full transparency from tree to container.
Estate Varieties & Processing
We grow three varieties on our 8-hectare estate in Sozoranga, Loja:
| Variety | Profile |
|---|---|
| Sidra | Floral, wine-like, silky — the variety that put us on the map |
| Typica Mejorado | Honeyed citrus, velvety — our Cup of Excellence variety |
| Catucai | Intense fruit, creamy — chosen by the WBrC Champion |
Processing options: Washed (clean, bright), Honey (sweet, balanced), Natural (bold fruit), Carbonic Maceration (wine-like complexity), Anaerobic (tropical depth).

Traceability
Every lot includes: GPS coordinates, producer identity, variety, processing method, harvest date, drying records, and cupping scores. This is not a future promise — this is how every lot is handled today.
