Kaweh Coffee Shop: From Our Farm to Your Cup in Loja

The journey of specialty coffee is long and complex, stretching from the dry forests of Sozoranga to meticulous processing and careful roasting. However, the ultimate destination of our coffee is the cup. To bridge the gap between the farm and the final consumer, we created our own dedicated showcase: Kaweh Coffee Shop.

Kaweh Coffee Shop is an outstanding specialty café located in the center of Loja, Ecuador (Mercadillo street, between Bernardo Valdivieso and Bolívar), internationally recognized by ranking 71st in the prestigious list of the 100 best coffee shops in South America. More than just a café, it is the urban home of Hacienda La Florida.

Managed by Passion

Kaweh Coffee Shop is passionately managed by Ramiro Coronel (co-founder of Hacienda La Florida) and his wife. Ramiro, an agronomist graduated from the prestigious Zamorano Agricultural University, brings his deep technical understanding of coffee production directly to the consumer experience.

By managing the café themselves, Ramiro and his wife ensure that the incredible effort put into farming and processing is honored in every extraction. From perfectly dialing in the espresso machine to educating customers about the nuances of an anaerobic fermentation, their passion is evident in every detail.

The True “Farm to Cup” Experience

At Kaweh, we offer a genuine “farm to cup” (de la finca a la taza) experience. Because we are both the producers and the baristas, there are no middlemen. We have complete traceability and quality control over every bean we serve.

Visitors to Kaweh can expect:

  • Exclusive Microlots: Taste rare varieties like Sidra and Typica Mejorado that are often exported to international markets.
  • Processing Showcases: Compare a washed coffee side-by-side with a honey or natural process from the exact same harvest.
  • Award-Winning Quality: Enjoy the very same beans that have won accolades in national competitions like Taza Dorada and Cup of Excellence.

An Educational Hub

More than serving excellent coffee, Kaweh functions as an educational hub for the local community. Ramiro and his wife frequently host cupping sessions, brewing workshops, and casual conversations about the reality of coffee farming in Ecuador.

They believe that educating the consumer is crucial for the sustainability of specialty coffee. By understanding the immense labor behind a perfect cup, customers develop a deeper appreciation for the beverage and the agricultural communities that produce it.

Whether you are a seasoned coffee professional or someone just discovering the world of specialty coffee, Kaweh Coffee Shop is your invitation to taste the true essence of Hacienda La Florida.
